Die Gedichtsammlung Fest der Aphrodite nahm ihren Anfang im Jahr 1994 auf der Insel Sula. Inmitten der überwältigenden Elemente der Natur, des grenzen-losen Lichts im Sommer, der endlosen Nacht des Winters, der Vögel, der Stürme, der See wurde diese kleine karge Fischerinsel vor der Küste Norwegens zu einem Ort reicher Inspiration. Was solcherart im Norden erfahren wurde, fand sein südliches Gegenstück in der geschichtsvollen Landschaft um das Landhaus der Dichterin in Episkopi bei Paphos, in einer Landschaft, deren Linien und Wege und Gärten gleichermaßen vom Aphroditekult und von der Verehrung Marias geformt und gepflegt worden sind und in denen jeder Stein, jede Blume, jeder Wind etwas mitzuteilen hat. In dieser Weise, von Ultima Thule bis zur Insel Zypern und ein bißchen weiter reichend, rundete sich eine Welt für die Dichterin, und ein Raum eröffnete sich: der Raum, in dem die aphroditischen Rhythmen der Dinge hörbar werden können.

Aphrodite's Feast, a collection of poems, had its beginning in 1994 on the island of Sula. Having experienced the overpowering elements of nature, the limitless light in summer, the endless night of winter, the birds, the gales, the sea, this small barren fisherman's island off the coast of Norway provided the poet with a rich source of reference and inspiration. What was experienced north found its southern counterpart in the deeply historical landscape around the poet's village home in Episkopi - Paphos; in a landscape where the rites of Aphrodite and the worship of the Virgin Mary have both shaped the same lines, traced the same ways, cultivated the same gardens. A world rounded for the poet, reaching from Ultima Thule to the island of Cyprus, and a space opened: a space where unheard rhythms became audible.
